Preparation for your Session

The Experience of a Great Portrait

I am honored to be commissioned to create a one-of-a-kind portrait for your family.  An individual or family portrait not only brings beauty and joy at the moment but gains increasing meaning and sentimental value over time.  As life moves quickly forward, you will cherish your investment with each passing year.

We all love fine art images displayed in our homes.  A personalized portrait tailored to you and your loved ones is sure to be treasured forever.  Our clients tell us how excited they are to have their family portrait as a focal point of their home.  Each art piece has the look and feel of a canvas oil painting and will be created to coordinate and complement your room’s décor.

Preparation for your session:

Most clients display their art piece over a sofa, fireplace, table, or piano.  Start to consider where in your home you want your art displayed.  When you decide where your portrait will hang, send me pictures of the space you intend to showcase it.  This will allow me the capability to view the dimensions and aesthetic properties of the space in which you desire to display your portrait art.  Please email prior to your session date a cell phone image of your wall.  Before taking the picture, tape a sheet of (8 ½ x 11) loose-leaf or printer paper to the wall. See an example on the right of this page.  Email your wall images to Click Here to email or send it to

The process of portrait art can take up to 1.5 hours for your photo session and your selection of images.  If you are coming with younger children, they can become restless during the photo selection process.  You may want to consider having them bring along their favorite entertainment devices to play with during that time.

The amount of intricate and specialized customization and enhancement in creating your unique portrait art may take up to 12 weeks.  The best part is when you come in for the unveiling of your finished portrait.  It is always a moving experience when you view your personal masterpiece for the first time.  I am always affected by my clients’ emotional responses when they see their loved ones captured in their own personal heirloom.  It is a very special time for everyone.

I look forward to having the honor and opportunity to create your timeless work of art.
